ELECTRO-TECHNICAL RATING – ETR STCW III/7

This is a course developed for candidates who want to obtain entry-level certificate for electrician. ETR STCW III/7 is also pre requirement for obtaining ETO licence in the future. In addition, this is an electrician-based certificate that all personal from the engineering department may undertake. Candidates who successfully complete the course will be able to understand the principles of electrical, electronic and control engineering at the support level.

 

Pre-requirements for an Electro Technical Rating STCW III/7):

  • at least 18 years old
  • has completed secondary education Electro – technical direction in duration minimum of 3 years, in which curriculum consist of minimum contents according the program from the part A-III/7 of the STCW Regulations and Rules from the Annex A5 or
  • has completed undergraduate university degree Electro – technical direction in which activities are included minimum contents according to the program from the part A-III/7 of the STCW Regulations and from Annex A5 Rules
  • have at least 3months of sea service as a trainee electrical engineering, marine electrician or any other function in the engineering department
  • complies with the prescribed health conditions under STCW

 

Additional certifications that a person needs to have before the exam for Electro Technical Rating:

  • D2 (Basic safety course) STCW A-VI/1,
  • D48 (Marine Environmental Awareness) STCW A-II/1, A-III/1.

 

The contents of the program:

  • Safety usage of electrical equipment
  • Monitoring the work of electrical systems and machinery
  • Use of hand tools, electrical and electronic measuring equipment for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair operations
  • Maintenance and repairing of electrical systems and machinery on board

 

DURATION: 3 DAYS (18 hours)

The exam consists of:

  • Marine electrical appliances
  • Safety and security at work with electrical equipment
  • Repairs and maintenance of marine electrical equipment
